Sleeping Bear Dunes, MI

When we left Bear Lake, the kids thought we were headed straight to Kansas City, but Philip had planned a fun couple of days for us in Michigan before headed to Kansas...

It was sprinkling a little, but we decided to introduce the kids to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.   So beautiful!

Their first glimpse of the dunes

This is crazy to me - all those little dotes in the sand you see are (insane!) people who decided to walk down the dunes to the water, and then had to make that horrible climb (that can take 2 hours) back up!   No thank you!

Windblown Riah

I so appreciate random strangers who are willing to take family photos for us!

The kids Really wanted to go off the path and climb the dunes, but we Really didn't want a van full of sand, so we nixed that idea

Love this one

Keenan's on top of the world!

Next we did a 1.5 mile hike...

The trail was beautiful...

...the company was great...

...and the views were gorgeous!

Leafy smiles

There was quite a bit of elevation change on this hike and we got fairly out of breath at times

...but the view at the end was worth it all

Wow!

I love those colors in the water... that usually are seen in the tropics!

A break for cuteness on the way back

Well...Sleeping Bear dunes left us with three sleeping cubs!

What fun to show our kids more of Beautiful Michigan!
