Our "New" Kitchen!

So... we'll start off with "before" pictures.   When we moved in, I painted it orange, because I thought it would help brighten up the dark room...and because it was fun.    When trying to convince someone Else to buy your home, though, orange is not the best way to go.   I picked out a shade of green for the walls (before we had decided to paint the cabinets).

We had considered painting the cabinets before but just couldn't stomach how much work it was going to be to do it ourselves, so we decided to just paint the walls.  After talking to our realtor though, and getting a recommendation for a painter (who gave us a great deal if we removed all the hardware and removed and re-attached all the doors and drawers and hardware ourselves), we decided to have the cabinets painted as well.

Not having cabinets doors on, certainly makes you take notice of what is Inside your cabinets and how it looks!  This was good motivation to tidy things and get rid of a lot of junk!   Not having ANY drawers to work with, though, turned out to be a huge inconvenience (and quite a large mess in the office, where it all ended up!)

Here are all the fronts after we got them back from the painters:

Instead of replacing ALL the hardware, we decided to keep the hinges and just find new pulls to match.

I should have taken more pictures of the whole process, especially the treatment we did on the counters, but things were just So busy!   We decided, instead of replacing the old, white formica countertops, we would use the SpreadStone Countertop Coating Kit.  It's actually a Canadian product!

It was a lot of work and required six separate coatings, but we are very pleased with the result!

Okay, without further ado, the after (paired with the before pics for biggest impact) =)

Philip tore out the old microwave over the stove and replaced it with a back plate and hood and also all new pieces on the gas stovetop.  He also put in a new ceiling fan.

(The green here looks a little "minty" but the first picture shows the actual color better)

It makes it soo much brighter and feel so much bigger - we are in love!  (And hope a prospective buyer will be also!)

Our house was officially listed today - YAY!
