Fun with Papa!

Philip's dad drove up on Friday night and is staying until Tuesday!   We love it when he comes to visit!

The kids are so stoked to have him here!

It looks like Caleb is picking his nose, but he's touching his moustache =)

Yesterday morning we went to see Monsters University (Dad didn't even mind seeing it for his second time).  Then the boys and Dad did some geocaching, and in the afternoon Philip and I went for a (kid-less), HOT run, and then we had dinner at Lincoln Park.

 Fun times, despite the gnats

Reading the kids a cool story before bed

We had a relaxed, family morning at home while Dad went to Calvary Chapel in FWB.   Then we had lunch and headed out with the jet ski.

 Off they go!
Caleb had a great time collecting things and throwing them in the water

Philip and Dad

Dad took it out on his own for a bit

I did my first (and maybe only, since there's only three days left) practice swim before our duathlon on the 4th.  Oops.

I loved this bank of clouds!

Dad and Moriah pulling Philip and Keenan on the tube

I like this guy

Me jetskiing with dolphins!

I LOVE this picture!
I was trying to get a cool reflection picture of the kids in this huge puddle, and then Philip and Dad went by in the background!!

It was apparently a rather bumpy ride for Dad! =)

This evening at small group we did a big shrimp boil!   How fun!

One of the kid's tables (Eden, Nora Jane, Judah and Jade)

More kids (Moriah, Keenan, Vivi and Elijah)

YUM.

Josh's Graduation and Stuff

So... today the third year's (aka Josh Storey's class) graduated from residency.   That means that the Storeys have completed what they came here to do.   They are now free to go.   We have only days (a couple weeks at most) left with them.   Congratulations, Josh!  But seriously, boo...

I love this picture of their family today!

Moriah wore a perfect twirling dress =)

The Eglin Family Medicine Residency Staff
(notice Philip and Melissa being so mature, doing bunny ears?)

I love this one of Philip and his baby girl

Well, we're all dressed up, so we may as well have a family picture

...and this Major Does look so handsome in his blues =)

Couple randoms that had no other place to go:

Caleb being silly, double pacifying

We got to watch Treyson Penny from 6:30 am until 1 pm today.   He was so much fun!  (But jeepers, I don't know how people do it with two babies of varying ages in the house!)

What a cutie!

He got soo much attention!

Oops!  I guess that didn't keep Caleb out!

Love

Since no one was using it right then...

Philip's dad got here tonight for a couple days which is super fun!   The kids can't get enough of him and Caleb is totally enthralled with his beard.  =)

July Mantel

I hadn't done anything new with our mantel (except clear it off and put some random stuff up there) since I did my Valentine's mantel.    This year I thought it would be fun to do a "dual Patriotic" theme for July!

Fun!

I've had two new canvases sitting around for a while, and thought it would be fun for the kids to make flags out of them!

 They did a great job!

Here's the process:   I drew the lines and taped, and they did the rest!

Keenan did the maple leaf in the middle and Moriah did most of the painting on the sides

He did so well!

Finishing up

The American flag proved to be a Much bigger job!

The stripes were the easy part

I drew in the stars, Keenan edged (most of) them, and Moriah painted in the big spaces

Keenan found it tedious after a while

Moriah ended up finishing it up and did an excellent job!

I'm so proud of both of them and will treasure these masterpieces always!!

Some other things of note on this mantel:

The metal flag and maple leaf trivets were wedding gifts from Philip's mom. =)
The "camera" was made by Rebekah for my camera party
The Canadian/American flag material is actually the apron that Philip wore at our wedding reception when we served soup to our guests!  It was perfect for this theme!

Lego Car Race

The kids and I went to the library this morning, since Rebekah had told us there was a Lego event going on.  With the word Lego in it, I knew it would be something Keenan was interested in. =)

They had several tables set up and bins and bins of Lego for the kids to play with!!

Keenan and Elijah picking pieces

Moriah building

The woman leading the group told the kids that they should (if they wanted to) build a Lego race car an there would be a race!

Now it's serious business

Cute Elijah

Finding just the right pieces

Keenan's car

Moriah's car

Elijah's car

Doing some practice runs on the track

Then it was the time everyone had been waiting for....

She had all the kids line up and then divided them by age into heats of two
(The goal was to have your car go the farthest)

Moriah won her first heat (against a 6 year old!)

Keenan won his first heat against Elijah

Winners lined up on one side

Moriah lost her second heat

Serious just before his second heat

Yeah!

Final race (his car is actually slightly behind in this picture, but it kept going when the other one stopped

With his medal and bag of candy (quite the prize!)

It was just a silly car race, but I was soo proud of him! =)
