Keenan's Duathlon!

Keenan competed in his first duathlon today!  It was the Maritime de Luna Du Kid's Duathlon in Pensacola.   We left the house at 5:30 in order to get there in time for packet pick up before 7.

He was so excited!

 His first race bib!

Number on his helmet

 Timing chip on his ankle

His bike all ready to go

Putting his bike in the transition area

 With Daddy

 ...and Mommy

 Transition area

He wanted a picture with the kids =)

 Taking a walk with Caleb
(notice the body marking on his leg)

We had a lot of time to burn before his race, since the older kids (10-13) raced first.   We walked around the beautiful park and Philip found a geocache...

This is the same park where my 15K started, and that is one of the bridges we ran on in the distance

A helping big sister

 So sweet

 Waiting at the start line

Excited to get running!

 Most of his group
I love this one =)

 ...and they're off!

Finishing up the first run...

 In transition

Off he goes!!

 So speedy

 Coming back in

Rounding the last corner before transition

Off his bike...

 ...and handing if off
(It was Really awesome that they didn't have to rack their own bikes, they just passed their stuff off and started running!)

 Waiting at the finish

 Here he comes!

His time was 21:45
He placed 26th out of 50 in his race.
He won third place for his age group.  His trophy is coming in the mail (since we didn't stick around for the awards ceremony because we had no idea!)

 Finisher's Medal!

 We are SO proud!

We had a celebratory brunch at IHOP after =)

I forgot to get a picture until all our food was gone

What a fun morning,  but we all needed naps when we got home! =)

Keenan, I am so very proud of you! You looked so speedy and like such a natural. It's hard to believe it was your first race. You didn't give up, you kept going and you finished. What a great race and a great job. Congratulations!!! Love, Gr'ma
