On Friday night we went bowling with Devin and Melissa and their kids and our friend, Rowena! It was the kid's first time - and they seemed to like it for the most part (although all four of them decided half way through the game that they'd rather just eat and fool around then actually play. =)

"Team Kids" before we got started
(I loved that they actually had little bowling shoes in Moriah's size!!)

"Wow, this thing's heavy!"

Yesterday was a fun and productive day. I ran at Turkey Creek, and then we took the van to the car wash and got it all sparkly inside and out. I bathed the dog, did some laundry and cleaning, and in the evening, Jade and Eden came over to hang out while Devin and Melissa had a tennis date. =)

This morning marked a week since Philip left. We are still doing really well, although I'm noticing a little more frustration from Keenan, and I especially missed not having Philip next to me in church this morning. =0/

This cracked me up - Keenan in his beloved (and almost too small) footie pajamas, and Moriah all dressed up for church! =)

Just chatted with Philip and I have a pot of African Peanut Stew simmering on the stove for small group tonight. =)

New Hair etc...

I've been growing my hair out for a while, with the intention of donating it to Locks of Love. Well, today was the day. I was ready to have the ten inches cut off, let it start growing back out (before Philip comes home), and actually have it be "my own" hair now. =) After I got it cut, I picked up some temporary hair color and went and had Rebekah do it for me! Fun!

I think this is the shortest it's ever been!

The back (you can really tell it's darker here)

We are continuing to do well in our home! A couple nights ago I got the urge to change some stuff around in the house, so I turned the front living room into the playroom, and the family room is now a clean, uncluttered space that I won't be ashamed of when people stop by!

Today was MOPS, and we made manicotti to take home. I couldn't eat a whole pan of manicotti by myself, so I invited myself over to Melissa and Devin's house for dinner. =)

We've been able to video chat with Philip the last couple of days, which has been awesome!

We went to the beach yesterday! Yes, folks - it's February and we were at the beach. =) Be jealous. =)

Happy Feet

It was a gorgeous, perfect day. The water was definitely too cold for any sane adults (at least ones that live here and aren't visiting from Canada) to be in it, but the kids had a blast splashing in the waves!

We hung out for several hours and then had lunch at the Back Porch. We were playing on the beach right beside the restaurant and left all our stuff right there and watched it from our open air seats in the restaurant while we ate!

The kids fell asleep on the way home and continued to sleep while I blogged outside the library, and then still slept for an hour in their beds at home!

Last night, Melissa and I had a fun time at Margarita Monday. When I got back home with the kids, Keenan asked (for the first time) about Daddy. He said, "I miss Daddy. Every time we come home, he's not here!" =0/ Super sad.

But, overall, we are doing so well - Praise God!

Amazing Friends

(Posting from the library parking lot since our internet is down)

We have been so blessed with such great friends, and support from ALL around! Emails, phone calls, Facebook messages have been pouring in and I am overwhelmed by the love and support we have had!

Thank you soo much to all who are praying - we feel it!! =)

Philip got safely to his (U.S.) base late last night and started his training early this morning. I have not heard from him yet today.

Yesterday was surprisingly great. Here are some pictures from the day:

After hanging out for the morning with Josh and Rebekah, Devin and Melissa came and picked us up and we went out for brunch at "Donut Hole" (surprisingly my first time in all the time we've lived here!) It was really good!

I just really liked how these bar stools looked

After lunch, we came back here, put the kids down for naps, and then Melissa and I ran to Wal-Mart before we all headed back to Josh and Rebekah's for a bbq and fun in the backyard with a fire and playing yard games!

Last night, Melissa came home with me for the evening, helped put the kids down and then we drank some delicious daquiris and chatted till way too late. Sleep came easily, thankfully.

More to come...

It definitely feels very strange still, not totally real. I'm hoping that sets in gradually, not all at once. =0/

He's Gone

We dropped Philip off at the airport this morning. We will see him again in approximately 7 months. Wow. Hard to wrap my mind around that. He will be at another base in the U.S. for a few weeks of training, and will then head overseas.

Here are some pictures from this morning:

I'm so proud

We are soo blessed with great friends. We drove straight from the airport to Josh and Rebekah's house, where we've hung out in the sunshine and let the kids play, and then we're going to go out for brunch with Devin and Melissa, and then more fun stuff for the rest of the day.

Prayers are much appreciated, this is very unchartered territory for us...

Sunny Saturday

Today was a gorgeous day in the Sunshine State!

We slept in (a little), got fresh donuts, and then headed out to play some disc golf. Unfortunately, there was a tournament going on and we didn't want to get in the way, so we didn't actually play. We opted for a walk around the park instead.

Here are a couple of pictures from today and the last couple of days:

Funny Moriah

Daddy and his sweet kids

I just really like this one

Look at that form!

I love this picture of all of us

It was a perfect day for turtles! They were sunning themselves everywhere!

Okay, that's close enough, he's getting uglier...

A stop at the playground before we left

Then it was home for a laid back afternoon, pulling out the kids summer clothes, playing outside and having yummy quesadillas for supper.

Wednesday Goings On

It is absolutely Gorgeous here today! The weather is perfect (like I wish it could be all year round).

Jade and Eden came later today because their grandparents and aunt were in town, so they stayed home with them until it was time for Philip to take them to the airport. Makes for a much shorter four kid Wednesday!

Lots of deployment preparations are continuing to go on here...

Keenan and Philip trying out the foam topper he's taking to put on his bed

Isn't this winter coat he has to take HYSTERICAL!?!
(I love this picture so much!)

Moriah napping with her Daddy Doll

Eden hitching a ride with Keenan

Jade does it a little differently =)

I worked at the church dinner tonight, and brought home a Ton of amazing food after! Devin and the kids were here for a while, now the kids are bedded down and we're going to watch one of our favorite shows on Hulu.

Might even have a breakfast date in the works in the am.. =)

Philip's Birthday and Other Stuff

Today was Philip's 30th birthday! A big deal, because now I can bug him (for 100 days) about being 30, while I'm still in my twenties. =) Totally uncool is the fact that we will only be together for five months of his 31st year. =0/

We've spent the day at home, enjoying the beautiful weather, packing for Philip's deployment and eating some of his favorites for dinner (followed by blizzards from DQ).

Yesterday was a great Valentine's day here in our home. Philip gave me really sweet cards from he and the kids, and this beautiful diamond bracelet (that I actually got a couple days ago).

Which reminded me, I hadn't mentioned this beauty that he got me for Christmas!

What a sweet man I married

Last night he made dinner (a rarity), and not just mac'n'cheese either, he made Shrimp Scampi! It was amazing... =)

Nope, not a yard sale - Philip had to treat all of his uniforms with heavy duty mosquito repellent before he packs them

I also hadn't posted a picture of my new friend on here. =)

Deployment is coming up fast and becoming very real to all of us. Keenan seems to totally "get it" now and has had some pretty emotional times.

We busted out the "Daddy Dolls" today, and the kids Love them! Never heard of these? They are sold online at a site called "Hug a Hero". They are for anyone who is missing someone. You send a full body shot of your person to them and they put it on a doll for your child to keep with them when the person (friend, parent, grandparent) is far away. They're even machine washable! Many people I've talked to about kids and deployment said that these were very helpful.

Keenan with his "doll daddy" he calls it =)

Check out the Awesome tricycle I found in someone's Trash today! Who would throw this away???

I LOVE it!

Radio Flyer!

Fun times
