Lots Going On!

Events of the past two days:

Four Kid Friday

Philip was home on Friday, so that made the day really fun!

Keenan and Jade started the day off in "dress up" mode

Since it was nice out, we decided to take the kids to the Gulfarium! It turned out to be a bit cooler there, since it's right on the beach and was quite windy. We were the only ones in the park for most of the time, which was cool, because the kids could just run wherever they wanted and they didn't bother anyone!

Some of the exhibits were closed and some animals were snuggled up in their beds, but the gators (for a change) were out of the water to lay in the sun, so it was fun to be able to see all of their bodies, not just their heads sticking out!

We found a sheltered corner to sit and have snacks:

I love this picture of Philip and Moriah!

Jade and Eden wanted one of just them =)

This heron was hilarious! It just stood "statue still" by the sting ray pool and looked hungrily at all the little fish swimming around! =)

Saturday was a busy, fun day for us! The weather was AWESOME (70), so the possibilities were endless!

It started off with giving Spunky a bath (her first at our house). She did really well and was her fur was so soft and nice smelling when it was done! =)

In the tub

Philip took the rail off Moriah's crib (since she's been climbing out of it anyway). So now our baby is sleeping in a semi "big girl" bed! Big stuff! =)

We went for a family run (our first!) at Turkey Creek! Being together makes exercise even more fun!

After that, we headed to the Commissary to pick up some stuff for the Sassy Potato Corn Chowder I was making for that evening, and then hit the disc golf course for the first time in a long time! We even took Spunky with us (which worked amazingly well), and Philip and I played our best games ever!

Last night we went to the annual Soup Party with the staff, residents and interns from Eglin. It's super fun, everyone brings their own mug, and you spend the night socializing and eating the seven different kinds of soups, chowders and chilis that people had made! There was lots of laughter and great conversation since it was a "no kid" party. (Melissa and Devin had a great sitter, and we took our kids over there too!)

All in all... a super Saturday! =)

Okay, Okay, Mom...

(I wrote this yesterday and thought it had posted!)

I know, I've been Terrible at blogging lately! The days are just flying by, and before I know it, I'm headed to bed and have not blogged!

So... since Sunday, what have we been up to?

On Monday I had lunch with Sandy, the third spouse wife that I've met with to interrogate them about everything I need to know about deployment and how to handle it best with kids, etc. She (as were each of the others) was extremely helpful! I am so blessed to have such encouraging women around me.

Keenan gettin' stretchy with his Super Stretchy ABC game

... and my turn =)

Me'n' my snuggle puppy

Tuesday was the first time I'd gone running with both kids in the jogger, and it went much better than I expected! I actually did a mile and a half in my usual, solo time! It must be that I had to "power up" the inclines, and the jogger "dragged" me down the other side! =)
That night we had a super awesome time at Family Night with Devin and Melissa (and a bunch of other friends that happened to be there!)

Yesterday I worked on figuring out how to incorporate Eden's Sock Monkey theme and Keenan's Construction theme into their joint birthday party next month. Should be fun! =)
Rebekah and I braved the crowds and checked out the new Wal-Mart (hours after it opened) with all our kids! =)

The Amazing, four layer, "Cake Boss" type cake they were serving!

Our gang (munching on all the free food we had collected on our way around the store!)

A picture of the outside (for friends who have moved away)

After that, I folded and put away about four loads of laundry (turns out when No One in the family has any socks left, it's time to tackle the pile of clean laundry) =)
Last night we went to DQ for dessert, since they were having Customer Appreciation Day and everything was 1/2 Off! The line was forever long, and the kids sat on either side of me, dripping their Dilly Bars all over me while Philip got our food, but it was totally worth it and my Peanut Buster Parfait was divine! =)

So, (as has been his plot for our entire married life), Philip has, in the last couple of days, convinced me to watch the Star Wars movies with him. And... I have to say - I'm actually liking them! (That last part was typed in a whisper). What next?!?

This morning we had MOPS, and bade farewell to one of our coordinators, Destiny, who will be moving to Germany with her Air Force husband soon. =0/ We also had a kick boxing instructor come and do a class for us, which was super cool (I may not be able to move tomorrow, but for today, it was fun!)
Then we had to load up on chewy dog toys, since Spunky definitely likes to chew.

She must have gotten her amazing fashion sense from me =)

Date, Etc

Philip and I had a Wonderful date night on Friday! We went to Carrabba's (thanks Dad D. for the giftcard!) There was quite a wait, and while we were sitting there, they brought around free appetizers! We got some Amazing zucchini fries - how cool is that??

Also, (after a delicious dinner of steak and crab cakes and some awesome conversation), they brought us a free tiramisu for dessert, since Philip is deploying soon. What a great evening!

With our free dessert

Back at home, ready to dig into my Edible Arrangement!
(Pineapple, melon, grapes and chocolate covered strawberries!)

Last night, Devin and Melissa got a long overdue date and we had their kids over for a sleepover. It was fun! This was the first time their kids had slept here, and it worked great! Jade is a really deep sleeper, so we put him in Moriah's room (and he slept right through a nightmare she had), and Eden slept on a mattress in Keenan's room (they whispered and giggled for quite a long time..) =)

Watching a movie with the dog before bed

Happy Sunday!

Fantastic Four Kid Friday!!

Sometimes the day that I have all four kids is pretty crazy. They have become almost more like siblings than typical friends and some days (like last Wednesday), they just fight, fight, fight! However, today was... a joy. Seriously. They have played So well together and gotten along so much better that it has been a pleasure! They even did so well at the vet (yes, I had to take all four kids to the vet with me because the dog needed medication), that they all got ice cream cones from McDonald's after.

Next up was the car wash. Totally fun for four kids (who needs amusement parks when you have the drive through car wash??) but... totally Terrifying for the beagle in the backseat! =0/ I felt soo bad for poor Spunky who was shaking the whole time! Note to self: Drop dog at home first next time.

For lunch I made super awesome, cheesy homemade mac and cheese (the best I've ever made, I think) ... and all four kids acted like they would prefer the boxed kind. LOL.

They were all playing Very quietly in Keenan's room (with the door shut), so carefully opened the door, and this is what I found:

... all four of them in Keenan's bed! =)

Next, they decided to double up in the sleeping bags =)

Lunch time

The dog bed we had ordered for Spunky arrived today... she doesn't seem very interested in it yet, but the kids sure like it! =)

I got an awesome surprise this afternoon when I answered the door (with curlers in my hair because I have a hot date tonight), to find a delivery man holding a beautiful "Edible Arrangement" for me! I was sooo excited!! I've never had one before, but it looks amazing and it's perfect for Philip and I to share on our date! (Is it bad that I didn't even tell the kids it came??)

So yes... we have another date tonight only a week after our last one. Our awesome friends, Devin and Melissa babysat last week for us and insisted on doing it again this weekend (overnight dates both times), because they know the time is Quickly ticking down to when Philip will deploy for six months. We appreciate them So much and are really enjoying these special times together.

Mall Rats

One of my friends jokes that I'm a "mall rat", but I really don't Ever go to the mall, except for Family Night! =) Tonight was the first time we've (the kids and I) gone by ourselves in a while. It was totally okay though, I think we all enjoyed a bit of a slower pace, and it was fun to just hang out together, instead of with a big group.

My dinner dates
(Moriah cracks me up!)

Isn't this Hallmark teddy bear HUGE??

Funny picture of the three of us =)

We stopped in at Target quickly on the way home... and as always, got caught up in the "Dollar Spot", and found this for Spunky!

Haha! I don't really consider myself the kind of pet owner that would do this, but it was just too cute, and hello - for a buck??

Spunky has been with us for a week now and is doing soo well! I am so proud of her, and super glad to have her in our home. =)

Super Long Weekend

We are on the fourth and last day of this awesome loooong weekend! Friday evening, Philip and I had a great date, with dinner at Olive Garden and then to the movies to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader. What a fun evening!

Us at dinner

The rest of the weekend has been pretty relaxed, hanging out at home, walking the dog, or buying stuff for the dog! =)

Yesterday afternoon we had a great time of fellowship with our small group, and a great dinner, compliments of Josh and Rebekah! We are so thankful for these great couples! =)

The daily walks are proving to be quite enjoyable and beneficial for all!

The kids bundled up for our walk this morning

Adoption: Complete!

Spunky is officially ours!! Woohoo!

We're so excited to be able to give her a home, and to have her join ours! What a sweet little dog she is... =) We had a microchip put in her, so hopefully we'll never lose her (definitely a concern because she still bolts out the door any chance she gets!)

(Yes my kids are wearing pajamas in all these pictures, I promise we Do wear clothes around here!)

Moriah loves the crate =)

Keenan chillin' with Spunky

He sure loves her.. =)

She is soooo cute when she's sleeping!

I had a great lunch date with my friend, Barbara today at the Front Porch in Niceville (great little restaurant if you've never been!) I was getting deployment advice from someone who has been through it three times. She had a lot of great advice, and I feel very confident that I will be well supported while Philip is gone.

This evening, the kids are having a sleep over with Jade and Eden and Philip and I are going out for a nice dinner, and to the movies (to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader) - we're so excited!

And the Secret Is...

We have a DOG!

We've been wanting a dog for a while, and recently decided that probably getting one before Philip deploys was a good time...

On Monday, I went to the Niceville Animal Shelter and fell in love!

She's a three year old Beagle cross and is about twenty pounds. The perfect size for us! The kids are crazy about her, and she seems to like us too! (Well, she might like the backyard the most) =)

She has been at the kennel for the last Year (how has someone not snatched her up??), and so is "kennel trained", but not totally house trained yet (hence my "potty training" comment on Facebook).

She is very sweet, totally loves attention, and while she's quite quiet, she still has plenty of energy to keep up with the kids! =)

The shelter has a "fostering" option, where you can take the animal home overnight or for a few days to "try before you buy" and see if they're a good fit for you. We've had her since yesterday morning, and plan to officially adopt her on Friday!

Chillin' on her bed

Takin' care of business with her bone

She is a welcome addition to our family and will be a travel companion as we road trip while Philip is gone!

Secret Business

I can't believe I skipped two days of blogging without realizing it!

Here are a couple pictures of the kids and I on Sunday. They were wearing their matching outfits from Rebekah and Mark, and I happened to match too!

Love those grins!

Yesterday was my "kid free" day, so I took care of some errands in the morning, visited briefly with Philip at work and then headed home for lunch. After lunch I had a great, long phone conversation with my friend, Laura, before heading out to do something fun for a couple hours. I'm not saying yet what it is that I did, but it turned into something even More fun today! (If you've been on Facebook, you're all wondering what I'm talking about!) More to come on that in the next couple of days... =)

The Kiddos

Here are a few recent pictures of the kids that I hadn't posted yet.

Crazy on the swings!

Notice the dirt on her face from falling off the swing!

On Wednesday night (the last night the tree was up) the kids and I read books by the fire, and then Keenan slept out by the Christmas tree =)
