Keenan Turns Three in Kenya!!

Happy Birthday to Keenan! How awesome that we got to celebrate his birthday in Kijabe!!

Other than an hour awake at 1:30 AM, Moriah got about 14 hours of sleep last night, so she’s catching up fast! She’s also eating Much better (loving the imported New Zealand cheese that Papa buys!) Thanks so much for those who prayed for her!

Today has been a fabulous day and I am actually feeling pretty normal again. Sleep does wonders. =)

Philip spent the day at the hospital, doing orientation and working in the ER. Everything is so different and less structured that it will definitely take some adjusting for him. =)

Keenan and Dad took a walk around town, running some errands and meeting people while Moriah and I enjoyed the beautiful day and took pictures.

Several people stopped by and visited on the porch with Dad (a common occurance). People are always very excited to meet Dan’s family, because he is so well loved in the community. Here it is quite common for women to be called Mama, followed by the name of their firstborn, so I was called “Mama Keenan” today for the first time, and I liked it. =)

The kids and I both got great naps this afternoon and then Dad took Keenan over to play with his new friend, Ethan for a while. He had a blast! (Apparently he and Ethan also emptied two bookshelves onto the floor) =0/

I cooked my first meal (spaghetti) on the gas burner and decided that extra burners are just a bonus – it went just fine! =)

Dad bought Keenan a cute birthday cake (and had it written on) when we bought groceries yesterday, so I put up some decorations and we had the Saunders and their kids over to have a party with cake and ice cream and some small gifts tonight. Very fun!

Loving it here!

These aren't in the right order, but here's Keenan's party:

Blowing out the candles
With his new buddy, Ethan
The party crowd: Dad, Moriah, Philip, Keenan, Ethan, Jeff, Angela, Mumo, Erica and Emily

To Mama Keenan! That is so cute, I love it.....

I find myself running to the computer each morning to find out if you've posted yet. I can't wait to hear all about your journey there.

I love that you included some of the info about what Phillip is doing there. It definitely will be interesting to hear how he finds it over there vs here in the US.

Glad to hear that the kids are doing well and it sounds as if Keenan is fitting in just fine other there and loving it. Isn't it great to experience life thru the eyes of a child. Really makes you appreciate things even a bit more.

Be safe, take care and mostly praying that your time there continues to be great.

precious! Happy birthday Keenan!!! According to facebook, it is Mumo's bday tomorrow so you might want to ask him about that...birthdays are not as highly revered and often unknown in Africa so I am not sure if he just picked a random date to enter onto FB or what? If it is his BDAY, tell him I said happy birthday from his sister in Florida. :) And Happy bday to Keenan! I tried to call on dad's cell but it just rang and rang. Love you guys!

oops, I said HB to Keenan twice. I am tired and jealous of Moriah's 14hour sleep! haha!

yea pictures! Happy B'day again to Keenan! When you can, let us know what the weather is like over there and what it's like where you're staying. So glad you all finally got some rest and that prayers were answered!

btw, if you are Mama Keenan, what is Philip? I like hearing about what Philip is doing too, and wondering if he could share some of his thoughts about how things are different there vs the US (like the Mac's asked). thx. Miss you all so much.

Love, Mom/Gr'ma

p.s. this is where your TMI cooking skills will come in handy, eh? I remember our 'oven' in France was the metal box on 2 burners they sent over with us. Pretty ingenious design, really, and worked amazingly well too.

Yay for another Birthday party for Keenan, lucky little boy!! And yay for Moriah sleeping 14 hours and eating better!! Happy Birthday Mumo, he is likely young enough to know his birthday. Fun that his is close to Keenan's. Good job on the spaghetti Joia. Maybe you should get Andrew to make you an oven while he is there. =)
