We Made it!!

We are here in the frigid North (current temperature about 15 degrees) Brrr!

Overall, we had a Great trip up here! We did end up driving straight through, instead of stopping for the night. We're so glad we did, since the kids slept pretty well (most of the time). Once it got light out early this morning though, Keenan was pretty much wired (and ready to be out of his seat) for the rest of the trip. It ended up taking us a total of 19 hours - not too bad.

We got to Uncle Ty and Aunt Mary's house at about 12:30 this afternoon, got settled in and then all four of us took a (much needed) nap.

The afternoon was spent just hanging around here, eating, and watching Keenan chase Snickers (the dog) around the house. This evening we went and visited Philip's aunt and uncle...

We had a nice visit and chat with them, they got to meet Moriah for the first time, and we had some delicious chocolate pie (made by Uncle Dennis) as well! =)

(She was pretty quick to smile for him!)

We are still Exhausted and are off to bed! Not sure how many pictures I'll be posting this week, since I'm using Philip's laptop and it takes about ten times as long (and as many steps) to upload and edit my pictures as I'm used to...

Off to the North Pole....

We're just tying up the last few loose ends around here, and we will be on the road shortly for our week of leave. We will be spending part of the time in Michigan with Philip's family, and part in Ontario with mine. We'll also be stopping in Ohio on our way home. Should be a great week!

Pray for safe travel (and that we're able to drive straight through, we'd love to do that). I will hopefully be blogging every day while we're gone.

Pretty powerful video

I imagine most of my readers are pro lifers anyway, but I just came across this video on a friend's facebook page, and found it really touching, give it a watch:

He's Home!!

As I'm writing this, it's still two hours before Philip is supposed to fly in, but he's been home for two and a half hours already!!! He was able to get earlier flights and flew in at 5:20, instead of 10:30! We are sooo excited to have him home! =)

Here's some pictures from our day:

Today at MOPS, my friend, Robin's, husband (a firefighter/paramedic) came and showed us some CPR, and also taught us how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibralator). It was super interesting, and really good stuff to know!

The AED all hooked up

Moriah didn't really pay attention during the demonstration

Keenan got a free fire hat!

Philip called this afternoon and said that he'd been able to get some earlier flights. We were super excited that he'd be coming home early and that Keenan could see him before he went to bed, instead of waiting until tomorrow!

First moments in the door

Cute hat picture of my boys =)

Chubbly wubbly (I won't say which one I'm talking about!)

I thought this was cute

Does this picture make me look fat?

Philip was eating dinner during Keenan's bath, and then Keenan needed to taste some =)

One more sleep!

Philip comes home tomorrow night!!

Today has been nice and sunny! We had a fun lunch/playdate/get dirty/run around time with some of the wifia at the park on base.

Moriah happy about the warm weather and chance for some fresh air!

Look at Keenan's crazy, static hair!

He's actually hanging all by himself!!

My friend, Becky (who I had lunch with the other day), is coming over tonight so we can watch a movie together. Her husband is out of town as well, so we figured we might as well get together and watch a chick flick! =)

I'm trying to get most everything organized for our trip (we leave Friday afternoon for Michigan and Ontario), before Philip comes home, so I'm keeping pretty busy!

Just before supper, we went over to the airport, found Philip's car, cleaned it out, and left him a treat and a welcome home sign. (I have this strange feeling that he's going to surprise me and come home earlier than he was planning...)

Tuesday with Friends

This morning, we picked up Jodi and headed to a trail near her house that she told me about. I knew Keenan would love tromping through the woods (and that it would likely end in a great nap later!)

The trail

One of Keenan's many sticks (he made Jodi carry the rest) =)

Me and my babes

My little bear cub

Keenan got tired and wanted to be carried a lot, so Jodi got Lots of exercise hefting him along!

I love how his hair is all "sun-shiney" in this one

Yup, he's tired...

We had a lunch date at Wendi's house after our walk, so I dropped Jodi off at her house, and then decided to run through the car wash before picking up some lunch for Keenan at Sonic (I knew he wasn't going to make it to Wendi's awake).

I figured the car wash would be really fun for him... wrong! He was terrified! I had to reach back and unbuckle him and bring him in the front seat with me because he was crying! =0/

After he had calmed down a bit (he still wasn't a huge fan)

Normally, I love washing cars, but the van is a Lot bigger (and higher), and I definitely think I'm going to be investing the $4 it takes to have it done For me more often then I'll do it myself. =)

Fast asleep as I'd predicted

Isaac, Riah and Elijah

We had a wonderful lunch at Wendi's (yummy goey grilled cheese, fresh veggies, fruit and chips) and I got to meet her wonderful, friend Joan. Joan is Isaac's birth mom's mom and has known Wendi since before she was born! She is a "kindred spirit" and is a photoholic like me!! =)

Moriah was a big fan of her =)

Me 'n' Elijah

Elijah snuggling up to Moriah in the bouncy chair

Awww, good buddies...

Keenan getting in on the action

We tried to take some posed shots of Elijah, but he wasn't a big fan of being unswaddled, so we didn't have a whole lot of success. Here's what we got:

Sweet Baby Elijah

Elijah's had enough, and Scrubs is getting in the picture! =)

A Warning

This was just forwarded to me... instead of forwarding it on (because many people don't even open forwards), I decided to post it on here instead. I have not verified this with Snopes or anything, but even if it didn't actually happen, it certainly Could, so please be warned....

Criminals are coming up with craftier, less threatening
Methods of attack, so we have to be extra cautious.

Read on....

I live in Alexandria , VA , but I often work in Lafayette ,
LA , staying with friends when I'm there. As you know from America 's Most
Wanted TV program, as well as the news media, there is a serial killer in
The Lafayette area. I just want to let you know about an 'incident' that
Happened to me a few weeks ago, and could have been deadly.

At first I didn't go to the police or anyone with it because
I didn't realize how serious this encounter was. But since I work in a jail
And I told a few people about it, it wasn't long before I was paraded into
Internal Affairs to tell them my story. It was approximately 5:15 a.m. In
Opelousas , La. I had stayed with a friend there and was on my way to work.

I stopped at the Exxon / Blimpie Pie station to get gas. I got
$10 gas and a Diet Coke. I took into the store two $5 bills and one $1 bill
(just enough to get my stuff). As I pulled away from the store, a man
Approached my truck from the back side of the store (an
Unlit area). He was an 'approachable-looking' man (clean cut, clean shaven,
Dressed well, etc.). He walked up to my window and knocked . Since I'm very
Paranoid and 'always looking for the rapist or killer,' I didn't open the

I just asked what he Wanted. He raised a $5 bill to my
Window and said, 'You dropped this.' Since I knew I had gone into the
With a certain amount of money, I knew I didn't drop it.

When I told him it wasn't mine, he began hitting the window
And door, screaming at me to open my door, and insisting that I had dropped
The money! At that point, I just drove away as fast as I could.

After talking to the Internal Affairs Department and
Describing the man I saw, and the way he escalated from calm and polite to
Angry and was determined that I could have possibly
Encountered the serial killer myself.

Up to this point, it had been unclear as to how he had
Gained access to his victims, since there has been no evidence of forced
Entry into victim's homes, cars, etc. And the fact that he has been
Attacking in the daytime, when women are less likely to have their guard up,
Means he is pretty BOLD.

So think about it...what gesture is nicer than returning
Money to someone that dropped it?????

How many times would you have opened your window (or door)
To get your money and say thank you.... Because if the person is kind enough
To return something to you, then he can't really be a threat....can he????

Please be cautious! This might no t have been the serial killer... But
Any one that gets that angry over someone not accepting
Money from them can't have honorable intentions. The most important
Thing to
Note is that his reaction was NOT WHAT I EXPECTED! A total surprise! But
What might have happened if I had opened my door? I shudder to think!

Forward this to everyone you know....maybe they can be as
Fortunate as I was!

P.S. Ladies, really DO forward this to EVERYONE you know.
Even if this man wasn't a serial killer, he looked nice, he seemed polite,
He was apparently doing an act of kindness, but HE WAS NOT A NICE PERSON!!!

Men, send it to all the women in your life. What you do
today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it..
Make it a good one!

Breath of fresh air...

Today was a sweet break for me, in the middle of a week of "single mom-ing it". Jodi came over and watched both kids from 11:00 to 4:00 for me!

My friend, Becky and I went to a park in FWB and walked several miles on a nice walking path that they have there, and then headed to TGI Friday's for lunch. I had SUCH a great time, getting some exercise, talking to an Adult for several hours, and also got to know Becky a lot better. She is such an amazing woman, a great friend, inspiration, and a ton of fun! We are definitely going to get together more often!

Becky and I
(A fabulous picture of her, a little "pot belly-ish of me) =)

After lunch, I stopped in at the Commissary to pick up a few things (it was sooo nice to be able to park, run in, zip around, and be done in a matter of minutes!) Then I went back to the house for a bit, to see how Jodi was doing, see the kids, and feed Moriah. Then I was off again to have my hair cut. It was nice to be able to go somewhere by myself and just sit and read a magazine while I waited, not in charge of anyone but myself. I also Love having someone else wash and dry my hair, so that was a little treat to myself as well. =)

Keenan and Jodi trying to remove some body parts on Philip's little Operation pen

Keenan snuggling with Jodi (he had Such a great time with her and didn't want her to leave, even though she stayed two extra hours and visited after I got home!)

Philip said their first day "out in the woods" was a pretty good one. He said they did an obstacle course, carrying a 170 pound dummy on a stretcher. That sounded pretty intense... he figures he'll be sore tomorrow. He promised that he's taken lots of pictures, so I'll be sure to share those when he gets back!

Yay, we're halfway through our time without Philip!

Moriah had (and thus, I) had a great night last night, and she slept until nearly 10:00 this morning. That meant that Keenan and I got two hours together, just the two of us this morning, that was really nice. =)

Some pictures from our day:

Tummy time

I just thought this was a fun angle

Pondering life... or perhaps, where Daddy went??

While I was in the shower, Moriah was sleeping in the swing, and Keenan was playing with his toys. When I was drying off, I heard her start crying, and I ran out and.... Keenan had completely Covered her head and face (as well as her shirt) in about half an inch of lotion!! He went to time out, and I quickly tried to get it off of her (and out of her eyes) as fast as I could. Fortunately, it must be very mild, since she didn't seem bothered by it in her eyes much at all.

Here she is fast asleep after the ordeal...

Here he is trying to "kiss up" later...

Best friends once again =)

Since it was a bit cold for playing outside today (but we still Needed to get out of the house), I took Keenan to Kid Zone, an indoor play area, in Fort Walton Beach. I thought it was a little over priced, but Keenan had a blast... and took a second nap afterwards, so maybe it was worth my money after all... =)

Here's a bunch of pictures from there:

Climbing into the Jump Zone

Obviously this one didn't turn out right, but I thought it was fun anyway!

Climbing up the ladder to go down the slide in one of the bouncy houses

Bravely trying out another one...

"I'm goin' in, Mom!"

Some of the fun stuff

He Really wanted to try out some of the arcade games

Fortunately, he doesn't know you're supposed to put money in them yet

Navigating his way through the dog ball house (with big kids flying past)

...sliding out when he'd had enough

Woohoo, head first!

Big jump!

This evening, Jodi came by and spent some time with us while Cliff was doing some stuff at work. She thought it would be funny if Keenan tried on Moriah's bathing suit. =)

Here he is with the bottoms on his head!
(We actually did put the whole suit on him, but I'd better check with Philip first, to see if I'm allowed to post those!) LOL

'Night all!
