Trivia

Does anyone know (without looking it up), what the white stuff is called that you have to pick off of your orange sections after it's peeled is called? I was randomly wondering this last night as I ate a clementine, so I decided to look it up. Just wondering if anyone out there knew this already. =)

Okay... time for the answer. Pith is an acceptable answer, but the one I was looking for is albedo. Yay! Don't we all feel so much smarter now?? =)

I know that it's good for you! It has a lot of fiber in it...but I pick it off too!

Dana, I saw it called this on a question forum, but that didn't seem to be the technical, scientific name.

Wendi,yes, I think peel/rind are the same.

Pith Is an acceptable answer, I guess the one I found is the botanical definition, it's albedo. Hmmm...

without looking it up...albedo is also a measure of how reflective something is...something like a lake or a polar ice cap with the sun shining off it.
